Erra Fazira in Singapore

As everyone knows Erra Fazira was in Singapore on Monday, 4 November 2002. But there are certain details of her visit which you might want to know of. First, I wanna apologizes juz in case I offend anyone reading this coz I'm writing from what I know and I'm in a very sleepy state now from the lack of sleep yesterday and I reach home late last night coz I was wif Erra at the airport. She took 11.30pm flight. So here goes nothing:

As stated in the website earlier, Erra was supposed to take an 8.30am flight from KL and will reach Singapore at around 9.30am with her manager, Razak and her make-up artist, Kay Azman. But due to some human error (which I can't mention), Erra couldn't make the morning flight. She will be taking the 2.30pm flight from KL and only reach here at around 3.30pm. So we went back to the hotel to take a well-deserved rest while waiting for Erra. Erra's dancers, Zaini and Amy are already at the hotel as they came earlier by coach from KL.

At around 2.30pm, Razak and Kay left for the airport with Manja representatives, to pick Erra up. Erra has a photo-shoot for Manja's December cover (Look out for it at your nearby stores in December, k.) Just in case Malaysian fans are wondering, Manja is known as Sentiasa Manja in Malaysia. Erra will be appearing for the Hari Raya version. While Erra, Razak and Kay, were at the photo-shoot, I was still at the hotel with her dancers waiting for them to arrive. But at around 5.30pm, we received a call that Erra won't be come to the hotel and we will be meeting her at the expo instead. So, we made our way to the airport and was met by Tuty, one of Manja's representative. She told us that Erra was already on the way to the expo from MediaCorp studios (where she had the photo-shoot), then we will have our dinner over at the Manja's booth with her when she arrive.

Dinner - When Erra finally make her appearance at the Manja booth, she managed to greet everyone there and headed straight for the food available. From here you all would realise that she's very hungry and if see the food she takes, you would be wondering why she's so thin now. There were numerous onlooker outside the booth to catch of Erra eating her dinner. After having her dinner, Erra went straight backstage to get ready for her show. Her outfit for the show was the same as the one she in Anugerah Era 2002 back in September.

Her first performance is a song taken from her latest album, 'Sampai Bertemu', Lepaskanku. Her performance, as usual, is backed-up by two dancers, Amy and Zaini. Next, Erra called up a male fan to come on stage to sing wif her. A guy by the of Rizal (if I'm not mistaken), came on stage but when since he did not know the song from Erra latest movie, 'Mr. Cinderella', Erra sang with him 'Soal Hati' instead with Rizal as her dancing partner onstage. After the first chorus, Erra thanked Rizal for coming on stage and her dancers burst onto stage and the slow ballad of 'Soal Hati' suddenly became upbeat. Erra finished the song in the faster version, which was never available in any of her albums.

Hafeez came onstage wif Erra stating that he will go on the floor looking for fans wif questions to ask Erra. And the first questioned asked is... as everyone would have guessed, was about her and Yusry. Her answer: Relationship - yes in movies but not off-screen (very diplomatic). Then, there was an surprise by Hafeez Glamour saying that 'Yusry' is spotted in the expo hall and will sing the their duet 'Ucapkanlah'. As it appears, actually it was on Yusry from Singapore and not the Yusry the 'bapak beruk' from 'Mr. Cinderella'. (no hard feelings, ya). Congratulations to Singapore's Yusry for singing perfectly with Erra during the duet even without any background music (really thought it was Yusry KRU singing up there with Erra). After the duet, there was an auction hosted by Singapore's very own, Zack Zainal. The item on auctioned was not Erra, of course. It was a ceramic bowl-cum-basket (I guess) with Erra's autograph on it. Proceeds will go to the aid of building madrasahs in Singapore. The winner of the auction will, of course, get their item and also get to be onstage wif her to have their photo taken wif Erra.

After thanking a very generous fan, Erra finished up her show for the night with her all-time favourite song taken from 'Kini' album, "Jendela Hati'. Erra thanked everyone for their support before going backstage. After a very short break backstage, Erra was brought to the Manja booth to have an autograph signing session for those who bought the latest copy of Manja. She signed autographs for about 30 minutes before coming back to backstage to get ready to set home.

While waiting for the car that was supposed to bring her to the airport, Erra was having a short rest backstage. While waiting, security was tight as a lot of fans was already gathering outside to catch a glimpse at the hot-artist of the day, Erra Fazira. Since she doing nothing, she got the security to bring in autograph books for her to sign. You can't imagine what was bring in. From autograph books to magazines to poster to photos to handphones and even handbags, to name some. The security also had to become photographer when fans asked him to take photo for Erra. Hence, the security guy brought in about 20 cameras. Since he was outnumbered with the numbers of cameras passes to him, I did lend a hand. All this while (signing autographs and photo taking), Erra kept saying to me that her head hurts a lot (she's having a headache). While looking at her at the moment, I can't stop thinking that what a great artist she is. Even when she's not feeling good, she's still smiling for photos and signing autographs. Really a no-airs artist with no 'I'm-a-big-diva' kinda of attitude.

About 10pm, the long-awaited car arrived to take her to the airport. While making her way to the car, she managed to take photos and sign autographs for fans waiting, even though the fans are already being shoved aside by the security protecting her.

Once arriving at the airport, much to everyone's surprise (me, my brother, Razak and Kay), Erra's shoe gave way. The sole of her right shoe broke and nearly came off. I teased her by saying whether it's a new fashion statement to where shoes with broken soles and I, too, wanted to break my shoe (which I didn't, of course). While waiting, Erra saw Bengawan Solo and asked me to go with her. Inside, she, some sort, "borong" the kuehs. Thus, while waiting, we had, what I would say, 'kenduri kueh'. After the short 'kenduri', Erra said she wanted to shop around but she only entered a book store and was in there for about 30 mins. Coming out of the store (11pm), she realized that it was time to go in (her flight was at 11.30pm) so she got her bag and said our final goodbye and there she goes (still with her broken shoe which she intended to buy at one of the duty-free shops).

Note: So this is my day with the Erra Fazira. And whatever is written here is of my own observation. If the actual happening is different from what you experienced, I apologize for the mistake done. If any of you went to the show and would like to share your experience or photos with Erra, you can email them to me like a fan did. There's another report done by a fan, Ariff, who was at the expo. His report in more detailed on the actual happening at the expo as I was mainly backstage at the expo. So I may not know what's actually going on outside. <Ariff's Report>
To Ariff, I apologize for what I said in the tag because from where I was, that as what I see. I'm sorry if I embarrased you.
